Top 5 Ways to Find Your Glow

As spring gets underway, we're encouraged to dust ourselves off as well as our summer clothes. This is heralded as a time to renew ourselves and get out there - so what if you're just not feeling it? When you're feeling low, it can seem like finding the time to look after yourself and find your energy again is a monumental task. Here are some tips on how to Find Your Glow step by step!

1. Live Well - Drink lots of water

It may sound simple but keeping your body hydrated helps your body to healthy & happy.

More than two thirds of the human body consists of water. We require water for almost every function within our bodies, from flushing out toxins to digestion.

It is even more important to stay hydrated particularly during hot summers, and especially if you are exercising more than usual. The European Food Safety Authority recommends 2 litres for men and 1.6 litres for women, so for a male that's around 3 and a half pints.

We would always recommend that drinking water little and often throughout the day is the best way to stay hydrated.

2. Feel Great - Keep Moving

Nick is a big believer in the importance of keeping active.  Movement breaks are a great way to ensure that you don't sit for too long at your desk without walking around for a short time.  You could even add in a few simple exercises such as squats and lunges to get the body moving.

A 30 minute walk in the morning, lunchtime or evening is a great way to find your glow and you'll reap the benefits. Walking is not only good for your muscles but great for the digestive and nervous system too.  So you'll feel looser in your body as well as your mind. Take time to notice your breath and surroundings too, mindfulness has proved to improve anxiety and depression, and quality of life for people with chronic illnesses.

3. Eat Simple, Healthy Foods

Eat a balanced healthy diet.  You are what you eat and this will show through your skin, mood and ability to be focus and be creative.   We believe in the 80-20 rule. Aim to be healthy 80% of the time and don't get worked up by the occasional treat.  For, we try and minimise the amount of refined sugar we eat and opt for great alternatives such as maple syrup and coconut sugar in our cooking and baking.  However, if we fancy the occasional naughty slice of cake we don't hold back!

4. Be Better - Learn something New

It's always great to learn something new, whether that be a sport, a language, or just read a new book.  Learning something new can be great for your creativity, confidence and relationships.  It's also a good way to keep the mind exercised, set yourself some short-term goals and improve yourself.

5. Take Some 'Me' Time

Dis-ease is caused when there is imbalance caused by sustained stress to the body's systems.  To create a sense of ease and wellbeing in the breath, body and mind, we all need time to ourselves, whether it's a 30 minute yoga session, a lie down on the sofa with a good book, an early night or even a relaxing bath using our moisturising coffee scrub!

Make sure you book out time in your diary each week to unwind and relax and your body will have a chance to repair and recharge and instead of looking and feeling exhausted, you'll likely have a beautiful natural glow!
