We both worked in London earlier in our careers, but after experiencing first hand the impact that working long stressful hours had on our health and wellbeing decided to take the path less travelled, leave employee life and build our own business.
We left our previous careers in finance and television to launch our first venture The Coffee Camper in 2012, a converted Citroen HY van which we took to music festivals and sporting events across the country. Our learning curve was steep to say the least, but it was a case of sink or swim so we paddled furiously and slowly started to make a name for ourselves. After 5 years of living on and off the road, we felt it was time to put down some roots and create a new adventure.
Like many people we had always dreamt of living by the sea, Emma’s family had a deep connection with the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline and this is where we used to escape for weekends to plot our dreams and make plans. As fate would have it we were presented with the opportunity to take over a cafe in the centre of St Davids and, as with our previous venture our enthusiasm outweighed our experience, so of course we went for it! Now we’re the proud tenants of The Meadow, a cafe and event space on the High Street where we serve wholesome, delicious food, great coffee and memorable social gatherings. We’re still learning and evolving and riding the highs and lows that a small business brings but we were looking for an adventure and that's what we’ve found.
For us, living in St Davids is about reconnection with nature, being part of small community and enjoying the simple things.
We look forward to sharing it with you soon.
